Auckland has a subtropical climate, with warm, humid summers and mild, damp winters. The city has an oceanic climate. It is the warmest main centre of New Zealand and is also one of the sunniest.

Summer in Auckland is from december to february, and winter is from may to august. The average daily maximum temperature is 23.7 °C in February and 14.5 °C in July. The absolute maximum recorded temperature is 34.4 °C ,while the absolute minimum is −0.6 °C.

Bus services in Auckland are mostly radial, with few cross-town routes. Late-night services are limited, even on weekends. Bus services operate at least every 15 minutes during the day and early evening, every day of the week.

Rail services operate along four lines travel between the CBD and the west, south and south-east of Auckland, with longer-distance trains operating to Wellington only a few times each week.

Jump on the ferry to Waiheke Island: A quick ferry ride from Auckland City can take you to stunning Waiheke Island. It’s perfect for a day trip, or a longer stayover. With a multitude of vineyards to visit, and fabulous restaurants and cafés and art trails on the island.

Wander around Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki: The building itself is a work of art. One of Auckland’s oldest public art galleries has had an impressive extension. You need to take the day to tour this gem and get lost enjoying the work of New Zealand’s greatest artists.

Hike the Waitakere Ranges: Just west of Auckland you can check out the black sand surf beaches Whatipu, Karekare, Piha and Te Henga/Bethells. There’s a stunning display of Auckland’s wildlife and waterfalls.

Gasp at the view from the Sky Tower: In the heart of Auckland City take a glass-front lift up the Sky Tower – all 328 metres – and see 360-degree views of Auckland. you can do the invented bungee jumping. If you choose not to jump you can head to the Observatory restaurant inside the Sky Tower and watch others doing it.
