Located in North Louisiana between Shreveport and Monroe, Ruston and Lincoln Parish is known for its thriving college-town atmosphere, an 18-block historic downtown district and the incredibly sweet peaches grown here.

The area is home to Grambling State University and Louisiana Tech University, and boasts a variety of specialty shops and delicious restaurants.

Most cultural activities are offered through Louisiana Tech. Also there are shops downtown, chain restaurants in the city, and an eight-screen Celebrity Theater.

The area enjoys a four-season climate with moderate temperatures, allowing year-round travelers to take advantage of outdoor attractions. Temperature heat at its highest peak is between 20°C - 30°C from june to august, however in winter can drop to -2°C from december to february.

There is no regularly scheduled public transportation system in Ruston; however, students can walk almost everywhere around the downtown area, even around the city. Other local transportation available is scheduled public transportation pick-up or by taxi.

Autrey House Museum: Built in 1849, the Autrey House is the oldest dogtrot style home in the area and believed to be the oldest surviving structure in Lincoln Parish.

Garland Gregory Hideaway Park: Is located on the Louisiana Tech Campus in Ruston. The park includes several pavilions throughout the park to provide picnic areas. Also includes several walking trails, a challenging 18 hole frisbee golf course,and a pond that provides opportunities for fishing and canoeing.

Lake Claiborne State Park: On the shores of a 6,400-acre lake. Features fishing, swimming beach, picnicking, overnight camping, cabins, trails, playground and pavilions. 

Lincoln Parish Park: Rated as the best mountain bike trail in the South, Lincoln Parish Park is a treasure for residents and mountain bike lovers alike. The 10-mile trail offers a challenging and exciting course for not only the advanced rider, but beginners alike.
