Saint Paul is the capital city and the second-largest city of the US state of Minnesota. Saint Paul is in the Upper Midwest along the Mississippi River, just east and downstream of Minneapolis.

Saint Paul is the birthplace of cartoonist Charles M. Schulz (Peanuts), Schulz's Snoopy cartoon inspired giant, decorated Peanuts sculptures around the city.

Saint Paul has been called the last city of the East primarily because early developers built it to fit Eastern standards: city squares or parks, towers and turrets, lofty arches, Baroque domes and elaborate adornments abound.

With 30 theater venues, more than 10 dance companies, 30 classical music groups and nearly 60 museums, it’s no wonder we’ve been called the Midwest’s cultural capital.

Saint Paul has a continental climate. Winters are frigid and snowy, while summer is hot and humid. As a consequence of Saint Paul's continental climate, it experiences one of the greatest ranges of temperatures on earth for any major city.

The average annual temperature of 7.4 °C gives the Minneapolis - Saint Paul metropolitan area the coldest annual mean temperature of any major metropolitan area in the continental U.S. May - October would be the best time to visit Saint Paul.

Minneapolis-St.Paul's coldest month is January when the average temperature overnight is -12°C. In July, the warmest month, the average day time temperature rises to 28°C.
