ELS / Portland is located in the lovely campus of Concordia University (CU), less than 30 minutes drive from downtown Portland, which can be accessed using the excellent and inexpensive public transportation system. The park system than 15,000 hectares of the city provides a wide variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, skiing, kayaking and fishing.
Students can enjoy weekend trips to Mt. Hood, Columbia Gorge, Oregon beaches, Seattle and Vancouver. Portland is the fourth largest city in the West Coast and in 2009 was ranked third safest US city by Forbes.

Host family students are responsible for their personal transportation. Most students use the convenient Max-Train or bus system. In the downtown, Lloyd Center, and eastside districts, students can utilize the streetcar system for $1.00.
Coates Hall(Student Residence (On Campus))
The Apartment Style dorms are equipped with four single bedrooms and a shared kitchen, bathroom, and living space for the unit. Rooms include a bed, closet, desk, chair, high-speed Internet, and cable TV connection. Linens are also included. Kitchens include refrigerator, stove/oven, and basic supplies. Self-service laundry machines are available for a small fee.
Public Safety is present on campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Each residence hall has a resident assistant to aid ELS students.
