Summer weather: Really starts in July and ends in September. Summer temperatures average around 26C. Overnight temperatures average around 16C. 

Fall weather: Usually starts in October with daytime temperatures dropping to the 15C and low 20C, with cooler nights and about 12C. 

Winter weather: Starts in Mid-November and lasts until mid-March. Temperatures range from daytime 4C-10C. It rains a lot during these four months, but the temperatures are not extreme like in other interior states of the country.

Spring weather: Brings a beautiful time of year because we have more flowers blooming in May than any other time of year.

The MAX light rail system, consisting of four lines, color coded for ease of use. MAX trains arrive about every 15 minutes every day, but may run less frequently late at night.  

Another option is the Portland Streetcar system. The Streetcars run approximately every 13 minutes, from 5:30 am until 11:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. Until 11:45 on Friday and Saturday nights and until 10:30 on Sunday nights.   The Streetcar system operates on the same fare system as the MAX.

The local buses are also part of the same system. Numerous lines and routes are available around the city and its outlying suburbs.  Depending on the route and day, they typically run from 6 a.m. to midnight.

Portland’s International Rose Test Garden: Features more than 10,000 roses. Each year hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world enjoy the sights and scents of the gardens, including its spectacular views of downtown and Mount Hood.

Portland Japanese Garden: Is a haven of meticulously maintained, tranquil beauty. Proclaimed one of the most authentic Japanese gardens outside of Japan, the 5.5-acre space includes an authentic Japanese tea house, meandering streams, intimate walkways and an unsurpassed view of Mount Hood.

Chocolate: Although Valentine’s Day is only in February, chocolate is far from a once-a-year obsession in the City of Roses. In fact, for many locals, manipulating the complicated cacao bean is a lifetime pursuit.

Portland saturday market: The nation’s largest weekly open-air arts and crafts market. Stroll down row upon row of unique creations made by the people who sell them, and enjoy live music and international snacks.

Pittock mansion: A century-old symbol of Portland’s dramatic transformation from a small lumber town to a bustling city, it’s an architectural wonder. With picture-perfect views of rivers, forests, bridges and mountaintops and 23 storied rooms teeming with treasures.
