Glasgow School of English

Glasgow School of English was established in 1997 and since then we have developed an excellent reputation for providing quality English language tuition in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Glasgow School of English was established in 1997 and since then we have developed an excellent reputation for providing quality English language tuition in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Every year we help hundreds of students improve their English language skills and achieve their academic or career goals.

Glasgow School of English is British Council accredited, ISO9001 certified and is also a member of English UK and the International Association of Language Centres (IALC). The quality of IALC member schools is guaranteed through minimum standards, regular inspection, a code of ethics and a philosophy of continuous improvement.

We help you to learn more about the city of Glasgow and life in Scotland by organising school trips and social events. Our trips and social events give everyone the chance to practise their English outside of the classroom. They are a good opportunity to meet and chat to students from other classes and countries.

Each week we have a local trip on a Monday afternoon, leaving from the School at 3pm. We also have a trip or social activity on a Friday afternoon/evening and a full day trip on a Saturday.

Every Wednesday 3pm - 4pm, there is also a free weekly Conversation club for all students at Glasgow School of English.  This is a great opportunity to practise your speaking skills by taking part in conversations with teachers and other students, in a relaxed and informal environment. All students are welcome.

Local Trips

These trips usually take place on a Monday afternoon, to places within the Glasgow area.  Most activities are free with up to £5 cost required to cover the cost of any public transport costs.

Recent trips have included:

  • The Burrell Collection and Pollok Park
  • The Lighthouse - museum of architecture and design
  • The Tenement House
  • The Riverside museum
  • And many more...

We provide students with the opportunity to improve their all-round language skills in a communicative way, organising conversations, role-plays, dialogues, presentations and other tasks that allow students to put into practice all that they have learned.

We don't simply lecture the students to explain important language points, but we encourage the students to work together and cooperate with other classmates in order to learn.

Our students' opinions and ideas are important to us, so our teachers regularly ask for students' feedback to find out how they feel about their lessons, and if there is anything else they would like to do, or anything they would like to do differently in future classes. We encourage our students to make decisions about what happens in their lessons.
