Tacoma  is a mid-sized urban port city in and the county seat of Pierce County, Washington, United States. Tacoma is the second-largest city in the Puget Sound area and the third largest in the state. Tacoma also serves as the center of business activity for the South Sound region.

It was also recently listed as the 19th most walkable city in the country. Tacoma  hosts several beautiful parks connected by a multi-use trail and interspersed with restaurants and other businesses. It also offers world-class museums and a scenic waterfront. 

The Broadway Center for the Performing Arts, Washington's largest arts organization presents numerous year-round performances in Tacoma's. Ballet, opera, philharmonic, symphony and local theater groups as well as major concerts from leading worldwide artists of every genre. Other entertainment options in the Theater District include live rock music  with cocktails, large screen TVs, pool tables and darts.

Public transportation in Tacoma includes buses, commuter rail, light rail, and ferries. 

 

Public bus service is provided by Pierce Transit, which serves Tacoma and Pierce County. Pierce Transit operates a total of 43 bus routes (5 of which through Sound Transit).

Bus service operates at 30-60 minute frequencies daily, while three heavily ridden "trunk" routes are mostly served every 20 minutes on weekdays and every half hour to an hour on weekends.

Getting around downtown Tacoma is free and easy with the Tacoma Link Light Rail. This provides complimentary service from one end of downtown to the other. Hop on to ride between the six stop. Trains runs every 10-20 min.

Washington State History Museum: Displays a fascinating collection of artifacts from the state's history. You'll find exhibits that feature Native American art and people, early European settlement, state industry and labor, and geology.

Pt. Defiance Zoo & Aquarium: Features animals from the Pacific Northwest and around the world. Their Rocky Shores exhibit includes sea otters, tufted puffins, and clever Beluga Whales. In the Asia Forest Sanctuary, you can view Sumatran tigers, white-cheeked gibbons, and Asian elephants. In other exhibits, you'll see sharks, sea horses, jelly fish, and octupi. 

W.W. Seymour Botanical Conservatory: The historic glass conservatory, with a distinctive twelve-sided central dome. Exotic tropical plants and floral displays can all be seen in the lovely structure, where 3,500 panes of glass make up the dome and wings of the Conservatory.

Wild Waves & Enchanted Village: Is both a water park and an amusement park. Visitors can enjoy a huge wooden roller coaster, a variety of water-themed thrill rides, a 1906 antique carrousel, and kiddie rides. Food, games, and entertainment are also part of the fun. 

Museum of Glass: Is the only American museum that features contemporary glass art; there are just three in the world with such a focus. You can watch glass artists at work in the hot shop amphitheater located in the metal-clad cone attached to the museum.
