Rochester lies in the humid continental climate zone and has four distinct seasons, with cold and snowy winters; the coldest month of the year is January with an average minimum temperature of −16 °C.

Autumn features brilliant foliage colors, and summer sees generally comfortable temperatures that usually stay in the range of 27 to 29 °C accompanied by moderate to high humidity. The warmest month of the year is July.

The area bus system is the Regional Transit Service (RTS), run by the Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority. While the buses are clean, efficient, comfortable, and cheap. Public buses run from various places in the city and all go downtown The bus routes are designed as a hub-spoke system, optimized for travelers headed to and from downtown.

The hub is downtown, so travelers trying to get from one suburb to another often have to ride one bus all the way into the city. Generally, buses do not run after six o'clock in the evening and limited service on the weekends.   

Every RTS bus has a bicycle rack on front, which can provide some flexibility if you're willing to bike to a bus stop.

Seabreeze Amusement Park in New York: An historic amusement park, Seabreeze is the fourth-oldest operating park in the United States and home to many thrilling attractions and fun things to do, including classic rides, a spinning coaster and what the park describes as the "world's largest salt water swimming pool." 

Eastman Theatre: Is the main building of the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester. The theatre is the primary hall for the Eastman School's larger ensembles, including its orchestras, wind ensembles, jazz ensembles, and chorale. 

National Museum of Play at The Strong: Wonderful interactive displays, safe, clean, great family atmosphere Rochester NY gem. A worldwide gem since the additional of the Toy Hall of Fame!

Durand Eastman Park: The two major lakes in the park, Durand Lake and Eastman Lake both have footpaths around them which take about an hour. They are easy walks, and repay the walker's efforts with great views of the lakes, wildlife, trees, and other vegetation.

Memorial Art Gallery: The gallery recently added and outside park the includes works by several local and national artists. The inside galleries keep a nice rotation of new shows with the permanent galleries changing things up now. The surrounding "neighborhood of the Arts" has lots of shops and artist studios to look at too.
