The Quesnel International Student Program is designed to allow secondary and elementary international students to live and learn in a small, dynamic Canadian City. Students will study at Correlieu Secondary School, Quesnel Middle School, or one of our friendly elementary schools.
All schools offer the BC curriculum including many exciting elective options. If all secondary level graduation qualifications are met, a student could ‘achieve’ a British Columbia graduation certificate (the Dogwood).
Experiences make life. Quesnel and the surrounding area present the opportunities that will enrich your life and give you memories that will last a lifetime. Many of these activities will allow you to learn new skills and experience new things.
At the Quesnel School District, we have a strong commitment to the success of all of our students. Students enrolled in the International Student Program can expect the support that they need to succeed. The following support system has been put in place to support international students:
Assessment: All students entering the program will be assessed and a program will be developed to meet each student's need.
English as a Second Language Specialists: Our district teaching specialists are trained and certified in English as a Second Language instruction. All students entering programs will be assessed and a program will be developed to meet each student's needs. There is an expectation that International students coming to the program in Quesnel already have some functional ability in oral and written English.
Classroom Teachers: Will provide extra learning support to those students who require and ask for it. Language support will be available in all English and Social Studies courses as well as at times throughout each semester for extra help.
Counselors: Are available to ensure that students meet graduation requirements, help students choose classes, and help with personal issues related to school.
Tutoring: The peer tutoring program in both of our sponsor schools allow students requiring assistance to be matched with students trained to help other with academic, personal, and social concerns. Academic Tutoring is available after school for a fee.
