The historic centre of Siena has been declared by UNESCO a World Heritage Site.  It is one of the nation's most visited tourist attractions. Siena is famous for its cuisine, art, museums, medieval cityscape and the Palio, a horse race held twice a year.

The historical town of Siena Italy is conveniently located between Florence and Rome. It is home to a number of historical landmarks and tourist attractions.  

Piazza del Campo is the beautiful town square where the Siena Town Hall and Civic Tower can be found.  It also features great restaurants.
The Province’s Capital, Siena, is a magnificent city of art with characteristic alleys, wards and towers, artisan shops and buildings that make it a not-to-be-missed touristic destination for Italians and foreigners.

Moving through Siena’s lands and immersing yourself in this atmosphere is a magical adventure, a trip through many landscapes, from dense woodlands to old farms, from clay hills to stupendous paths. 

Siena weather is characterised by an excellent temperate climate, with weather that is mild through most of the year and generally avoids the worst extremes of hot or cold that can be found elsewhere in Italy. Siena has four seasons: spring (March to May), summer (June to September), autumn (October to November) and winter (December to February).

Summertime in Siena rarely gets as hot and sticky as other parts of the country, peaking around 31°C. Winters usually avoid the harshest cold, with temperatures around 10°C. Siena, a city in Tuscany, Italy, experiences a humid subtropical and Mediterranean climate that features a hot summer and a dump winter.

There are several small buses (Pollicino) run by the TRA-IN company that cover some streets located in the centre and several bus lines to and from the outskirts of town.

Discover Roman ruins: Mythical stories surround the founding of Siena according to the town’s legends the city was first settled by Senius, nephew of Romulus, whom Rome is named after. Siena’s origins date back to the first century AD and there is evidence of this ancient history all over the city.

Piazza del Campo: is considered one of the most beautiful places of the world. It has a characteristic shell-shape divided in 9 slices, you can admire this particular form from the top of the tower del Mangia.

Hunt the hidden battlements: Siena’s past has been colourful to say the least. Fighting battles against Florence and armies from further afield has left the city scarred and rebuilt time and time again. Different rulers had different styles, which are reflected in Siena's varied cityscape.

Set pace at the Palio: An annual event which is sure to get your heart racing il palio is celebrated twice a year on 2 July and 16 August. Dubbed Italy's most spectacular festival, it is essentially a bareback horse race, where riders circle the main Piazza del Campo three frantic times.

Torre del Mangia in Siena: Up there the spectacle is breathtaking, you can see all the city: The place, the Cathedral and all the hills that surrounded the city.
